Abstract

The results of the improved postoperative analgesia method, applied in 80 patients, operated for esophageal cancer, using two catheters, were adduced. Radical operative interventions, using combined thoraco-abdominal access (in accordance to Lewis or Оsawa-Garlock), were applied. In 40 patients (control group) postoperatively thoracic epidural anesthesia, and in 40 (the main group) – a combined analgesia (thoracic epidural anesthesia and thoracic paravertebral block) was performed. Efficacy of combined thoracic epidural anesthesia with thoracic paravertebral block, concerning lowering of the endocrinal-metabolic answer level in patients after esophagectomy, was proved.
